Hyaluronic Facial Serum

Hyaluronic acid is one of the most extensively studied hydration actives in skin science — and for good reason. Applied topically, it binds water directly to the skin's surface, visibly plumping fine lines and refining overall texture with consistent use.

This serum is built on an organic cucumber hydrosol base rather than plain water. Cucumber brings its own quiet efficacy: hydrating, anti-inflammatory, and protective against environmental stressors — working before the other actives even begin. Sodium hyaluronate is delivered at a 1.084% concentration — a percentage we arrived at intentionally, formulated to sit in the sweet spot of genuine, deep hydration without unintended effects. We use two molecular weights — low and medium — because each one works at a different depth. Medium molecular weight stays closer to the surface, forming a breathable film that reduces moisture loss and visibly plumps fine lines. Low molecular weight penetrates deeper into the skin's layers, hydrating from within and supporting the skin's own repair processes. Together, they deliver hydration at every level rather than sitting on top of the skin where it can evaporate.

Four organic essential oils complete the formula, each chosen for a specific role. Yuzu works on UV-induced damage, dark spots, and fine lines. Elemi supports circulation and water retention while helping prevent congestion beneath the surface. Lemon balm contributes antibacterial properties that aid in wound healing — making this serum effective for active blemishes and post-blemish marks, not just general hydration. Cape chamomile is among the most potent anti-inflammatory plant oils available for topical use, calming redness, swelling, and reactive skin on contact.

Key Ingredients

Cucumber Hydrosol: The base of the formula — a meaningful choice over plain water. Cucumber hydrosol is naturally hydrating and high in antioxidants that protect the skin against environmental damage. Its anti-inflammatory properties reduce redness and calm reactive skin before the actives are even absorbed.

Hyaluronic Acid: A naturally occurring molecule found in the body's connective tissue — it's part of what gives skin its structure and elasticity. Applied topically, it binds water to the skin's surface and holds it there, visibly plumping fine lines and improving skin texture. Also supports the production of collagen and elastin over time with consistent use.

Lactobacillus Ferment and Coconut Fruit Extract: A probiotic-based natural preservation system shared across the Xēba Botánica serum range. Protects formula integrity without synthetic preservatives while actively conditioning the skin.

Apple Cider Vinegar Extract: Balances the formula's pH — which matters for how effectively the other actives perform. Also provides gentle exfoliation, reduces hyperpigmentation over time, and stimulates circulation.

Xanthan Gum: Derived from fermented sugar. Gives the serum its consistency, helps retain moisture on the skin's surface, and keeps the formula stable between uses.

Yuzu Oil: A Japanese citrus oil high in vitamin C and antioxidants. Protects against UV-induced oxidative damage, visibly lightens dark spots and hyperpigmentation over time, and softens fine lines. Provides brightening and protective benefits without photosensitivity.

Elemi Oil: A resin-derived oil from the Philippines, used historically for skin repair and wound healing. Boosts circulation and water retention in the skin, and has clarifying properties that help prevent congestion and breakouts.

Lemon Balm Oil: Its strong antibacterial and antiviral properties make lemon balm an effective active ingredient for blemish treatment, wound healing, and inflammatory skin conditions, including acne.

Cape Chamomile Oil: Distinct from Roman and German chamomile, cape chamomile contains exceptionally high levels of ester compounds that give it powerful anti-inflammatory properties. Reduces swelling, redness, and reactive skin conditions. Nourishing, antioxidant-rich, and calming — one of the most effective essential oils available for sensitive and inflamed skin. It's also naturally a deep, rich blue — giving this serum its distinctive blue-green color.

• Shake well before each use.
• After cleansing and toning, dispense a small amount into the palm.
• Massage gently into face, neck, and chest until fully absorbed.
• Follow with moisturizer. In the morning, follow with our Face Cream SPF 32+.
• Use once or twice daily.
• Serums can be layered. Apply this serum before the Bakuchiol Facial Serum if combining — hyaluronic first, on slightly damp skin, for best absorption.
